This was an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of Multan in the industrial estate. The building had a partial load bearing and a partial framework structure. The plan was a double loaded corridor plan with opening into small spaces. Creating an open plan was challenging. So, we had to move a number of walls and install new structural elements. in order to achieve large span open spaces. Another challenge we set ourselves to was to introduce lots of colors in the interior. The norm is not to have too many colors in corporate offices, so they don’t become distracting elements and employees remain focused on their work. We took this up as a challenge and set out the hypothesis that colors can be introduced in office interiors strategically, and in a way that they facilitate the interior environment rather than becoming distracting elements.
